The Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) has granted accreditation no. AB 1839 to the Laboratory for Testing of Materials and Structures (LBMK) of the Department of Experimental Mechanics IPPT PAN in the area of researching mechanical products and engineering materials in accordance with PN-EN ISO 6892-1:2020-05, Metoda B „Próba rozciągania -- Część 1: Metoda badania w temperaturze pokojowej”. Thus, the LBMK is the first among IPPT PAN testing laboratories to be accredited by the PCA with respect to norm PN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02 “General requirements about competence of the testing and calibration laboratories”.

The PCA is a signatory of multilateral agreements within international organizations, including the accreditation of testing laboratories – International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC MRA). The Agreement aims at free transfer of accredited research results in Europe and elsewhere in the world. The ILAC MRA Agreement provides laboratories with access to export markets in Europe and around the world – under the principle “Accredited once – accepted everywhere”.

The received accreditation certifies that all testing reports issued by the Laboratory for Testing of Materials and Structures IPPT PAN are recognized by interested institutions from the countries which are signatories of the multilateral agreements (MLA/ MRA). The accreditation serves as an objective proof that the Laboratory operates in accordance with best practice, and constitutes a significant factor in the process of choosing service suppliers in the given country.

Testing processes performed with the MTS 810 Testing System applying the force of 250kN and +/- 70mm traverse displacement.

At the moment, the accredited services offered by LBMK include tensile tests for products and engineering materials at room temperature and applying a force of 250kN. The procedure offers the determination of the following parameters: explicit/conventional yield point, tensile or elongation strength. The tests are performed with the MTS 810 Testing System applying the force of 250kN and +/- 70mm traverse displacement.

In the future, the Laboratory is planning to expand its offer onto CTOD fracture toughness tests.
