We are pleased to announce that Professor Mirosław Meissner has been awarded the Ignacy Malecki Medal for outstanding achievements in acoustics by the Polish Acoustical Society. The medal award ceremony took place on October 24, 2025 in Warsaw during the plenary session of the Committee on Acoustics, Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS).

Prof. Mirosław Meissner is a graduate of the Faculty of Electronics at the Gdańsk University of Technology. Since 1981, he has been associated with the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences, where he obtained a PhD in technical sciences (1990), a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in 2000, and the title of professor in science (2021). His research interests include modeling the phenomenon of sound generation by gas flows and analysis of the properties of resonant systems subjected to high-amplitude acoustic excitation. He is also the creator of theoretical models applicable in the acoustics of enclosed spaces, particularly spaces with complex shapes and coupled spaces. Prof. Meissner conducted research on this topic as part of a National Science Centre grant entitled "Steady-state and transient energetic sound field parameters for objective evaluation of acoustics of enclosed spaces: theoretical modeling and computer simulations", for which he received in 2020 the Polish Smart Development Award in the category: Scientist of the Future.
Prof. Meissner is also actively involved in organizational activities related to acoustics. From 1996 to 2020, he was a member of the Board of the Warsaw Division of the Polish Acoustical Society, where he served as Secretary (1996–2011), Vice-Chairman (2011–2014), and Chairman (2014–2020), and since 2020 he has been Chairman of the Audit Committee of that Division. He participated in the preparation of 20 Open Seminars on Acoustics organised annually by the Polish Acoustical Society, and in 2024 he held the honourable position of Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the 70th anniversary edition of this Seminar. In 2018, he was awarded the Marek Kwiek Medal for his outstanding contributions to the Polish Acoustical Society. Since 2011, Prof. Meissner has also been a member of the Committee on Acoustics, Polish Academy of Sciences, where he has held or currently holds the following positions: Scientific Secretary (2011–2023), member of the Presidium (since 2011), and Vice-Chairman (since 2024). Since 2012, he has also been a member of the Editorial Board of the Archives of Acoustics journal, published by PAS, IPPT PAN and the Committee on Acoustics, Polish Academy of Sciences. Since 2025, he has also conducted research internships in the field of acoustics for university staff.
