Oliwia Jeznach, MSc, a doctoral student at the Laboratory of Polymers and Biomaterials, IPPT PAN, has received scholarship from the Czesław M. Rodkiewicz Scholarship Foundation.

Established by professor Czesław M. Rodkiewicz in 1999, the Foundation provides a one-time financial aid for the selected Polish doctoral students in order to facilitate their scientific work. The scholarships are awarded to the Polish engineers who conduct joint research in technology and medical science. Every year, the Foundation awards scholarships to two Polish doctoral students. So far, the Foundation has allocated approximately CAD$90,000 for scholarships.

Oliwia Jeznach MSc

Oliwia Jeznach MSc works at the IPPT PAN Laboratory of Polymers and Biomaterials. She graduated from the Poznań University of Technology in 2015 and the Warsaw University of Technology in 2016, where she majored in materials engineering.

Oliwia Jeznach has been a doctoral student at the IPPT PAN Laboratory of Polymers and Biomaterials since 2016, under the supervision of prof. dr. hab. Paweł Sajkiewicz. She is currently doing research for her paper on the surface functionalization of polyester fibers with the use of aminolysis and gelatine immobilization for possible applications in tissue engineering (Funkcjonalizacja powierzchni włókien poliestrowych za pomocą reakcji aminolizy i przyłączania żelatyny do zastosowań w inżynierii tkankowej).

Oliwia Jeznach specializes in surface modifications of electrospun polymer fibers for applications in tissue engineering, especially in the functionalization of fibers by aminolysis and the attachment of proteins containing RGD.

Oliwia Jeznach has already had an impressive scientific record. In 2019, she was awarded a three-month scholarship of the Kościuszko Foundation. She then conducted research at the Department of Biomedicine at Tufts University in Medford, in a team supervised by prof. David Kaplan who researched possible applications of biopolymers in tissue engineering. During her stay in Medford, Oliwia Jeznach gained significant experience in adding silk to polyester fibers surfaces and conducting cell research on biomaterials.
