Our cooperation with European science and research centers has resulted in the implementation of many scientific projects of the European Union programmes. One of the leading projects was the coordination of networks of excellence entitled "Nowoczesne materiały wieloskładnikowe o podwyższonej trwałości i niezawodności" (Network of Excellence Knowledge-based Multicomponent Materials for Durable and Safe Performance, KMM-NoE), which fostered the establishment of The European Virtual Institute on Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials AISBL, thus showing the supranational character of the IPPT influence.

Centre of Excellence and Innovation of Composite Materials
Centre of Excellence and Innovation of Composite Materials offers services in modelling, processing and characterization of properties of metal-ceramic composites (including graded composites and coatings) for applications in transport (automotive, rail and aerospace), conventional and renewable energy, medicine and other industry sectors.
The Centre specialises in:
- fabrication of metal-ceramic composites by powder metallurgy and pressure infiltration methods,
- fabrication of composite coatings by pulse laser deposition,
- characterization of mechanical, thermal and tribological properties of advanced materials,
- measurement and numerical simulations of residual stresses in composite materials and composite coatings,
- design and implementation of effective numerical algorithms for micromechanical modelling of composite materials,
- modelling of damage and fracture of composites and coatings with the use of microtomographic imaging of materials structure.

Department of Experimental Mechanics offers services in the following fields:
- Diagnostics and modelling of properties of cement composites.
- Experimental investigations into the mechanical properties of materials and structural elements under uniaxial and complex stress states on flat, tubular and cruciform specimens, including:
- determination of yield surface and its evolution due to various loading history for standard and novel engineering materials including functional materials,
- determination of plastic anisotropy and its variations due to plastic deformation and time,
- creep testing of materials,
- evaluation of the influence of plastic deformation history on creep characteristics of materials,
- dynamic testing of materials on the Hopkinson bar under tensile or compressive loading,
- evaluation of the effect of strain rate on the mechanical properties of engineering materials,
- investigation of mechanical properties of materials under proportional and non-proportional cyclic loading,
- fatigue, fracture and damage of materials,
- fracture toughness of materials (KIC, CTOD),
- fatigue evaluation of materials generated under various loading used in aviation, power engineering and other industry sectors, by means of the optical techniques (DIC and ESPI),
- thin metal sheets testing for large deformations under compressive loading.
- Investigations of phenomena taking place during laser processing of materials:
- laser surface modification of metals and alloys for the improvement of their mechanical properties, wear and corrosion resistance,

- nanoparticles synthesis by laser ablation in various liquids.
- Ultrasonic methods for materials testing:
- non-destructive testing of materials and structural objects,

Laboratory Services Centre
Laboratory Services Centre offers a state-of-the-art machine park equipped with precise machine tools, EDM machines, cutting machine tools, lathes, milling machines, grinders etc. The Laboratory carries out:
- 5-axis EDM machining of steel elements and other materials, including electrically conductive ceramic composites,
- 4-axis milling machine and a 2-axis lathes of metal alloy elements, copper, brass, aluminum, nickel, titanium and plastics,
- grinding surfaces, rollers and holes,
- designing and producing experimental devices for technological and biomedical research,
- technological support using the fullest extent of the Centre for all interested customers.

Laboratory of Professional Electronics offers services in designing electronic and digital signal processing systems. The laboratory specializes in ultrasound systems for medical and industrial use.

- design, simulation and commissioning complex, multilayer printed boards, especially high-speed digital interfaces and issues concerning signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility,
- design, simulation and commissioning of FPGA programmable logic circuits ,
